1 cup shortening (Crisco sticks)
2 cups sugar
4 eggs
1 cup buttermilk
2&1/4 cups flour
¼ tsp. salt
1/2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp soda
1 tsp vanilla
Preheat oven to 325 F. Grease and flour a Bundt pan.
Cream shortening and sugar. Add eggs one at a time and beat. Combine flour, salt, baking powder, and soda. Add flour mixture alternately with buttermilk and blend. Stir in vanilla. Pour into prepared pan.
Bake for 1 hour and 10 minutes.
Note: Soured milk can be used instead of buttermilk. Add 1&1.2 tsp. vinegar to 1 cup of milk and let stand for 15 min.
